The course offers a reconstructive and critical overview of sociological thought from its origins to the present day. The main authors, theories and concepts are presented and discussed with reference to the relevant bibliography.
This History of Sociology course presents the main sociological authors and theories from the perspective offered by two keywords: capitalism and technoscience.
In particular, capitalism and technoscience are examined in the ways in which they have been thematized and treated in sociological thought, and more generally in the human and social sciences, from the origins of the discipline to current times.
The aim of the course is to offer students a reflective path in the history of sociological studies in which knowledge of the main scholars, theories and research topics is accompanied by a consideration of the two historical forces of capitalism and technoscience in defining the world in a historical sense up to the contemporary.
